DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD (DAA)
The ASUAC (Alabama State University Alumni Connection) will celebrate and acknowledge
supportive alumni who have distinguished themselves in their respective professions.
The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest award bestowed by ASU. This accolade
recognizes alumni who have made notable and documentable contributions to the University
(finance, recruitment, etc.) and in their professions and/or categories. Individuals
will be selected based on their involvement or success in the following categories:
Agriculture, Arts, Athletics, Business, Civil Rights, Communication, Community Service,
Education, Engineering, Entertainment, Government, Health, Law, Medicine, Military,
Religion, Science, and Technology. The DAA ceremony for 2025 will be held in Birmingham,
Ala. Recipients honored with this distinction are held as embodiments of the ASU success
story.
Winners will be honored at the annual Distinguished Alumni Awards (DAA) Banquet on
Saturday, June 7, 2025.

NOMINATION CRITERIA
The Distinguished Alumni Award Selection Committee will select the winner(s) for each
category from among the nominations. All nominations must meet the following criteria
in order to be reviewed by the committee:
- Nominees must be alumni of the Lincoln Normal School, Alabama State Teachers College or Alabama State University (ASU), to include individuals who attended for a minimum of one complete term and left in good standing; and
- Self-nominations will not be accepted.
