Delta Delta Epsilon is a national honor society dedicated to recognizing and encouraging excellence in scholarship in the Forensic Sciences. The ETA Chapter was established March 18, 2014 on the campus of Alabama State University. The mission is to function as an honor and professional society for students of the forensic sciences. To accomplish this mission, ETA Chapter shall:

• Promote scholarship and encourage intellectual development,
• Confer distinction for high achievement,
• Promote leadership development,
• Stimulate student and faculty dialogue,
• Enrich the intellectual environment of higher education institutions,
• Encourage high standards of practice and ethical behavior, and promote attitudes of professional responsibility for the public good.

 The following are requirements for the Eta Chapter of Delta Delta Epsilon:

1. Undergraduate students shall be enrolled at Alabama State University, have declared a major in Forensic Biology, Forensic Chemistry or Forensic Science, have completed 45 semester hours or equivalent, have a minimum grade point average of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, and rank in the top 35% of their class. Transfer students shall have completed 45 semester hours or equivalent, 12 of said 45 semester hours being at Alabama State University.

2. Graduate students shall be enrolled at Alabama State University, have declared a major in Forensic Science, have completed 12 semester hours or equivalent, have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

3. Professional Members. Alumni of collegiate chapters shall be professional members. Others meeting the following criteria may be elected to professional membership: (a) earned one or more collegiate degrees with a 3.3 grade point average as undergraduates or 3.5 grade point average as graduate students and not have been previously initiated into Delta Delta Epsilon, or (b) have earned one or more degrees qualifying them to work in a profession with a 3.3 grade point average as undergraduates or 3.5 grade point average as graduate students and have made a distinctive contribution to a profession.
