PIANO FOR CHILDREN
The Piano for Children program at ASU is for children, ages 6-12, as an opportunity to learn how to play the piano. The program is taught by ASU music professors, Ms. Meg Griffin (beginners) and Dr. Adonis Gonzalez (advanced), and introduces students to basic note-reading, counting rhythms, and five-finger playing techniques. Students meet for weekly for after-school group lessons at ASU.

SUZUKI BRASS FOR CHILDREN
The Suzuki Brass for Children program at ASU is for children, ages 4 and up, and is an opportunity to learn about and experience music-making at a young age. The program is taught by ASU music professor, Dr. Brenda Luchsinger, and introduces little ones to the Suzuki method that is often used to teach young children violin. Students meet for weekly for after-school group lessons at ASU. Child-size trumpets and french horns are provided for student use.

DRUMS FOR KIDS
The Drums for Kids program at ASU is for children, ages 4 and up, and is an opportunity to learn about and experience music-making at a young age. The program is taught by ASU music professor, Dr. Jessica Williams, and introduces little ones to the rhythm and movement. Students meet weekly for after-school group lessons at ASU. Instruments are provided for student use.

PIANO FOR ADULTS (beginners)
The Piano for Adults program at ASU is for adults, ages 18+, as an opportunity to learn how to play the piano. The program is taught by ASU music professor, Dr. Kristofer Sancchack, and introduces aspiring adults to basic note-reading, counting rhythms, and five-finger playing techniques. The class meets for weekly group lessons in the evening at ASU.

PRIVATE LESSONS (all ages, all levels, all instruments)
Individual private lessons are available from ASU music professors throughout the year to receive conservatory-style training and to book individualized coachings for seating auditions, college audition prep, All-State Band try-outs, etc. Please see the contact sheet below to request additional information on lessons and instructors.

HIGH SCHOOL BAND DAYS AT ASU - TBA
High School Band Days at ASU usually coincides with Fall Connection Day at ASU and with the annual Black & Gold Spring Football Game at ASU, and offers high school musicians in grades 9-12 the opportunity to visit campus to take part in various festivities and to learn more about ASU and the ASU Band experience.

MIDDLE SCHOOL BEGINNER'S MUSIC CAMP - June 22-26, 2026
The Summer Middle School Beginner's Music Camp at ASU was started during the summer of 2025 with support from a special grant and in conjunction with the Montgomery Public Schools as a way to provide a headstart to Montgomery Public School children and children from other schools within the River Region, who will be joining Band at their schools in the fall. The camp is a communter, non-residential day camp features several different daily musical activities with ASU Music faculty. Transportation to and from the camp must be provided and arranged by parents. Register your child here for the summer 2026 camp!

MMH NEW FRESHMEN & RETURNING UPPERCLASSMEN PRE-DRILL CAMP - August 2-8, 2026
The Mighty Marching Hornets Pre-Drill Camp is mandatory for all new and returning ASU students who will be in the Marching Band during the Fall 2026 semester. This week of camp is mandatory for new incoming freshmen who wish to join the Band, for new transfer students who wish to join the band, for upperclassmen who wish to march with the Band for the first time, and for all returning upperclassmen Band member. MIGHTY MARCHING HORNETS DRUMLINE TRY-OUTS
The Mighty Marching Hornets Drumline try-outs for students wishing to earn a spot in the 2026 Band playing snare, quads, tenor drum, bass drum, or cymbals takes place during Pre-Drill camp on August 2-8, 2026.
