About the Small Business Development Center
Since its establishment in 1980, the Alabama Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Alabama State University has remained dedicated to delivering top-notch services. Our commitment lies in fostering business growth, economic development, and delivering exceptional value to our stakeholders.
At the heart of Alabama SBDC at ASU is a mission focused on providing small businesses and budding entrepreneurs with vital technical and management assistance. Through no-cost business advising and educational training, we aim to empower small businesses, fuel employment opportunities, promote growth, and fortify financial stability.
Covering a service area spanning six counties—Autauga, Bullock, Elmore, Lowndes, Macon, and Montgomery—our services are strategically designed to support businesses in these regions. Our team of skilled small business advisors and consultants offers personalized, cost-free guidance to both established businesses and those starting out.
In collaboration with the Alabama International Trade Center, we extend our support to clients interested in exploring import/export trade opportunities, fostering a global perspective for local businesses.
Furthermore, we actively nurture entrepreneurial skills among students by providing business instruction, assisting in crafting business plans, and offering internships to bolster practical experience.
Building strong connections is crucial, which is why the Alabama SBDC at ASU actively cultivates and sustains positive partnerships with community organizations, as well as local, state, and federal agencies. These relationships amplify our impact and enhance the support we provide to the business community.
