Department of Mathematics & Computer Science


Our Mission

The mission of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, as determined by its commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service, is to maintain an academic environment that:

(1) provides quality academic programs that encourage students to perform with distinction within and beyond;

(2) provides faculty with the opportunities, resources, and rewards to achieve excellence in teaching, research and service to the University, to the profession, and to the community.

 

Undergraduate Degrees Offered

The Department offers the Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and the Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.  The department also offers a Minor in Mathematics and Computer Science.

 

Graduate Degrees Offered

At the graduate level, we offer a Master of Science degree in Mathematics. Graduate students will have the unique opportunity to study along-side some of the best and brightest mathematical minds in the country.

 

Commitment to Excellence

Our commitment to excellence is not confined to the ASU campus.  A number of our faculty members are engaged in outreach initiatives in the tri-county area as well. Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) and the Institute for Mathematics, Science, Engineering, and Technology (IMSET) are two programs that the department is proud to take part in that provides K12 students a unique STEM experience.

The departmental faculty members have demonstrated that they are phenomenal teachers and researchers. Our faculty members care about their students and they have a vested interest in helping them achieve success in all of their endeavors. We are proud to say that our mathematics and computer science graduates have found success in fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and as ambassadors for education around the world.
