Our bachelor’s degree in psychology courses give you an opportunity to develop a strong foundation in psychology, network and research and to participate in community service activities. You won’t find the kinds of undergraduate psychology courses and experiences offered at Alabama State at many other universities, which makes ASU one of best schools for Psychology majors

African American Psychology:

Explore the psychology of the African American experience. You’ll study racism and discrimination, achievement and schooling, kinship and family, racial identity, religion and spirituality and African American mental health.

Psychology of Religion:

In this course, you and your classmates will study the role of religion, how it affects how individuals live through their beliefs, motivations, emotions and behaviors, and the influence of their interpersonal and intergroup interactions.

Human Factors Psychology:

We teach you about the interaction of humans and systems with the goal of improving ease of interaction, safety and efficiency.

Environmental Psychology:

Learn about how humans interact with their environment in this course, how they influence their surrounding physical environment (natural or man‐made) and how their environment influences them. Topics you will cover include: how green spaces affect us, theory and research about the causes and effects of environmental problems, how people affect the natural environment and strategies for improving environmental conditions through behavior change.

Get hands-on experience in your field.

Get hands-on experience while studying for your bachelor’s degree in psychology at ASU

  • In our Applied Behavior Analysis course, students complete a service-learning project at the Learning Tree, Inc., a residential facility serving people with developmental disabilities. There you will learn how to conduct behavioral assessments and implement behavior modification programs.
  • In our Social Psychology course, you’ll have the opportunity to mentor and tutor children at the YMCA.
  • The Inferential Statistics course teaches you how to analyze and interpret psychological data.
  • As a student in our Special Studies course, you will research with faculty and present on projects at local and regional scholarly conferences.
