Explore Occupational Therapy Courses at ASU

Our master’s of occupational therapy degree curriculum is guided by four principles: clinical reasoning, occupation, research and professional behavior. In addition to equipping you with the knowledge you will need as an occupational therapist, we utilize an interprofessional educational approach to prepare you to work with other healthcare students and professionals in your career.

Advanced Gross Human Anatomy

Patient Care Concepts and Research Courses: We teach these courses through the interdisciplinary approach, so you learn alongside fellow occupational therapy students as well as physical therapy and prosthetic and orthotic students. This prepares you for the collaboration and coordination of care that is becoming more common in health care.

Advanced Gross Human Anatomy:

We offer a full cadaver dissection lab for you to get a complete understanding of the human body.

Community-Based Interventions:

In this class, you will have the opportunity to learn about nontraditional areas of practice to serve the needs of all patient populations, regardless of how specialized they may be.

What Can You Do With Your Master’s Degree for Occupational Therapy?

Our students work in a wide range of therapy settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, schools, outpatient centers and psychiatric facilities.

The median salary for an occupational therapist is $85,570, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than double the average annual individual income reported by the U.S. Census.

Will you be able to find an occupational therapy job after graduation? Our job placement statistics and board passage rates speak for themselves. Within six months of graduation, 95% of our students are employed and our board passage rate over the past three years is above 95%.

Why Study Occupational Therapy?

It is essential to learn by doing in the occupational therapy field. That’s why we offer our students the opportunity to get hands-on experience and potentially attend and present at professional conferences.

Student life.

As a master’s of occupational therapy degree student, you have the opportunity be a part of the Student Occupational Therapy Association. You and your cohort will also regularly attend and present at state and national conferences, giving you both valuable experience and the ability to network and potentially land your dream internship or job.

Get hands-on experience.

We require you to complete a number of experiential learning opportunities to prepare you for the field of occupational therapy

2 Level I fieldwork experience: In these one-week experiences, you will be able to observe and practice your basic skills in a physical dysfunction and psychosocial setting.
1 Clinical intervention practicum: In this three-week experience, you select the area of interest of your choice and work to refine your clinical skills.
2 Level II fieldwork experiences: These experiences total 24 weeks (12 weeks each) and you will develop into an entry-level practitioner in two different settings.
